Wesley Street Restaurant

Wesley St Restaurant-12 [320x200]This award winning restaurant nestled among an intriguing mix of shops and boutiques in Nanaimo’s Old City Quarter is owned and operated by Gaetan Brousseau and wife Linda Allen. They also own and operate another popular eatery on Nanaimo’s Commercial Street called Mon Petit Choux Bakery Café, a wonderful place to start your day and to savour the taste of  authentically baked French pastries

If you haven’t been to The Wesley you have to go!  If you know friends that have gone there they’ll most likely tell you it’s one of their favorite restaurants and I would tell you that too.  I like everything about this place and I love the atmosphere, I find warm, cozy and quite romantic … it’s the perfect place for that special dinner for two.

The Wesley focuses on Island produce (I like that—we support local whenever and wherever we can). I won’t get into all the details of the fabulous food we enjoyed but I do want to tell you about two items that I can’t stop thinking about.  The Pan Seared Qualicum Bay Scallops with a roasted vegetable crepe and the sensational main dish — Trio of Lamb.  Wesley St Restaurant-5 [320x200]Both these items are my favorites and I absolutely love lamb. I grew up in England, so I was raised on lamb with mint sauce.  However, mom never served it like this!  The Trio of Lamb, as you may of guessed, consists of 3 different cuts of lamb, each cooked to perfection using a different method.  And yes, served with mint sauce! If you enjoy wine, Gaetan and Lind have one of the most impressive wine lists on the Island and no wonder as Gaetan trained as a sommelier in Bordeaux.

Thank you Gaetan and Linda for great food, great service and another beautiful evening at your restaurant.  Can’t wait to see you again soon.
